U10's sign off at Edmonton Festival
3 wins out of 5 for the Under 10's at the Edmonton festival
The under 10's finished their season at the sunny Edmonton festival on Wednesday. Nine colts with coaches and parents in tow made their way to the annual event.
PB won 3 out of the 5 8 aside games played with their usual amount of enthusiasm and skill.
The players: Charlie Scott (Capt), Dominic Ball (WKT), Sam Abrahams, Tom Reid, Jack Moss, Alfie Duke, Conor Cotton, Andrew Tomlinson and Luke Maddock-Lyon.
Note: 8 overs per side everyone bowls and everyone bats in pairs 5 runs deducted for every wicket taken.
Match 1 North London
We were outdone by a very strong bowling side who limited our runs to 24 with some very accurate bowling. They knocked of the runs but not without the boys taking 4 wickets (Tom, Conor & Andrew)
Match 2 North Middx
By far the strongest side we played with 2 Middx U10 players in their side. Alfie took 2 wickets in his over as the highlight but it wasn't enough to stop a 50 run defeat.
Match 3 Winchmore Hill
PB bowled first and the scene was set as Charlie took a wicket with his first ball. Andrew and Jack bowled very well and took a further 2 apiece reducing WH to a net 35. Bar won by 12 runs with a few good 4's from Sam, Charlie, Alfie and Luke and the benefit of only losing 1 wicket.
Match 4 Wilf Slack
It was just after lunch so I assumed the terrible bowling performance was due to over eating. We inserted the opposition and proceeded to gift the opposition 53 of the 69 runs they gained with a series of wides, no balls, byes and appalling fielding. After a sharp word we batted well enough and got home in the final over. The only moment worth mentioning was a specatular catch by Charlie.
Match 5 Edmonton
The boys, after their roasting of the previous game, put a batting and bowling performance together they can be proud of.
Charlie won the toss again (5 on the trot, maybe Len could ask him to win it for the first team)inserted Edmonton. Sam and Luke took 2 wickets and all the other lads one each as they reduced the opposition to a net 10. A great catch by Sam should also be mentioned. Only one wicket was lost and all contributed to a winning total of 55.
Special thanks to Adam Cotton for sharing the scoring and umpiring. Thanks to Sally Scott for the pictures you see below and scoring in the final game especially as she hasn't done it before and all the parents who came to watch.
Well done Roger Sans at Edmonton as usual for his organisation and the ordering of the sunny weather (how does he always place it on a blazing hot day?)
