Chairman’s Reflection of the season

Another season is coming to an end, but we will finish it with success both on and off the pitch.

Whilst the First Team has suffered many injuries this season, I still hope the season will be remembered for the best ever in the League at Step 4 and we all recall the outstanding success and enjoyment of the FA Cup run. FA Cup defeats of Canvey Island, then Bath City, will long be remembered.

This is our 12th Season at Step 4 and as more illustrious Clubs go to the wall, or are demoted due to difficulties, we are still able to compete with them.

I am proud that this summer will also see the completion of the new Changing Room project. The old Changing rooms and use of Portakabins will be gone forever. Instead we will have larger Changing rooms, two Officials Rooms, a Medical Room, a new Kitchen and a Boardroom/2nd Members bar.

Last summer we also improved the Clubroom too. A new and larger Bar, Bi-fold doors, new double glazed windows, new carpets and flooring and new furniture. It does look good.

Thanks to everyone who contributed financially, to the first Raising The Bar Scheme. If someone will come up with £160, we can complete the £10,000 Target we set ourselves! But more is being sought to carry out further improvements. The begging bowl is still out!

We owe a big debt to the Management Team, of Steve Ringrose, James Duncan, David Murphy and Runako Elcock, for their contribution to the First Team. Similarly, to John Gibbs and Sons, for the splendid building we will complete as a Legacy to future members.

The Under 18s have already given us the EJA League Title and we have three Cup Finals to look forward to.

Congratulations on the success all Teams bring to the Club. I am also very proud to see my Grandson, Jack, playing for the Under 9s.

We will continue our Free Season Ticket Offer and I am delighted if many of you are reading these notes, as you are all part of this Club.

The Club rolls on, week after week, and I thank everyone for their part on match days and in the Clubhouse. Everyone contributes to our success.

All the very best

Peter Waller
