Cheshunt Fc 0 v 4 Potters Bar Town Fc

The Scholars looked to put Saturdays defeat firmly behind them in Blustery and rainy conditions at Cheshunt FC and were boosted by the return of Steve Browne and Sean Grace to bolster the defense.

It was the host who carved the first opportunity half chance as a header at the far post flew straight into the arms of keeper Berkeley Laurencin.

Youngster Femi Ogunsola found himself in the penalty area after 11 minutes but as the defenders challenge came in he went to ground but the referee waived away penalty appeals. Seven minutes later the best chance of the half was created, Chris Doyle quick throw found Ogunsola on the right and as he slipped the ball inside Billy Lobjoit weaved past a defender and drove low straight into the arms of the home keeper.

The passes were switched on the 30 minute mark as Lobjoit’s through ball saw Femi Ogunsola just outside the penalty area but he could not keep his shot down as it flashed over the crossbar. Cheshunt mustered another header again straight at Laurencin, and from a deep free kick the scholars were grateful to Steve Browne who stretched to clear a dangerous ball for a corner.

The final chance of the half fell to the visitors as Billy Lobjoit exchanged passes with Chris Doyle and his powerful cross was a fraction away from being turned home by Max Holland at the far post.

So with score level at half time, the visitors came out with intent and controlled much of the second half proceedings. On the hour mark Michael Murray fed Max Holland on the left of the penalty area and his shot was deflected for a corner. A well work routine saw the ball find Billy Lobjoit at the far post and his left foot volley, bound for the top corner was flicked away for a second corner.

This time the set up changed and Murrays driven ball towards the near post was powerfully headed home by SEAN GRACE to give the visitors the lead. Six minutes later Cheshunt defenders committed a foul around 10 yards outside the penalty area in a central position and up stepped MICHAEL MURRAY to plant the resultant free kick around the wall and into the corner of the net to extend the lead.

The visitors were enjoying a lot of possession with Billy Adcock and George Nicholas dominant in midfield. Another corner was earnt in the 70th minute and the scholars extended their advantage as BILLY LOBJOIT found time to control the ball and plant it in the Cheshunt net to score his first goal for the club.

It could have been 4 in the 79th minute as Femi Ogunsola fed Michael Murray on the right of the penalty area but he saw his shot come back off the inside of the post and cleared, but the visitors finally sealed an impressive victory when Man of the Match Billy Adcock fed GEORGE NICHOLAS and he drove low and hard past the despairing Cheshunt keeper.
