Here are the results and match reports for Potters Bar town Youth for the weekend of 17th &18th September

U9- Hertford Town 1 PBT 4
Away to Hertford Town in our 2nd game of the season and another great win for the under 9's. Winning comfortably 4-1.
Making a solid start to the game the boys keeping a good shape took control early on with some lovely passing. The early control paid off as we took the lead halfway through the 1st half when Joseph Beacham caught the home side napping with a quick throw down the line which Calum Hummel crossed into the box for new recruit Micah Gordon to smash home into the top corner, for his and the teams first goal. After the first goal went in the boys continued to show some nice passing football and quickly won a corner which resulted in a close range shot from Calum Hummel to make it 2-0 at half time.
In the second half the boys now playing up hill on what was a poor pitch lost their shape under pressure however showed some resiliant defending. With the home side now very determined to get back into the game the boys did well to keep the scoreline at 2 nil. After being on the back foot for much of the second half the teams Man of the match Max Sutton turned things around playing a lovely ball down the left wing which Conor Dykes picked up on the touchline and whilst beating off a defender he kept his run going into the box burying the ball under the keeper to make it 3 nil. Within a few minutes of our 3rd goal we again won a corner which was swung into the box by Max Sutton and was met by Harry Daniels who powerfully headed into the back of the net to make it 4 nil. With the team now cruising to victory the determind opposition pressed forward and were rewarded with a late consolation goal leaving the final score at 4-1.

U11 Wheathampstead Wanderers Sharks 2 vs PBT Youth 6‎
Playing the league winners from last season was never going to be easy, however, the boys came out meaning business. From the first to the last minute, we pressed, worked hard and did not let the home team settle. The goals came from a brace from both‎ Albert Wood and Amadeo Rragami, an OG, and an excellent move started and finished by Oscar Sturrock which included sublime inter-change of passes. Congratulations to John Fox who for two weeks running was the man of the match.

U11 PBT Scholars 6 vs Whitewebbs Eagles 0‎
Against the team who we lost to on penalties last year, the team wanted to put the record straight with our first game at our new home ground. The surface allowed the boys to play our game of pure football with all contributing with slick passing and movement. It was near perfect performances from every player in every part of the pitch from our goal keeper Olly Brett, through our defence, into midfield and attack. Special praise for our man of the match Jean-Piere Bonnebaigt as he did not miss one tackle, made some wonderful passes and impacting runs. Great to see our new players on the score sheet again with the impressive Harry Bierman, a brace of cool finishes by Kyle Williams who appears to have the gift of being in the right place at the right time, debutant Ayoub Korrisi with his selfless display at left back who attacked well throughout and calmly slotted home his chance. Adding to the score sheet was Captain Jack Matthews who played exceptionally even though only passing a last minute fitness test, and the game was capped with a goal which arguably could end up being the goal of the season from Luca Townend who drove down the left and cut in to unleash a screamer – what a goal! Final mention for Luis Culora, who is now plying his trade on pitch and looked a natural in the holding midfield role, with some important tackles and smart distribution.

U11 PBT Whites 1 vs Waltham Cross 6
It was made very difficult for the Whites due to the away teams vocal support, and was playing a team who had previously been playing 2 divisions higher and was clearly a more physical team in most positions and would hope WX are moved up so that they can play at the appropriate level. Irrespectively, our boys still worked extremely hard and it was admirable in the way they never gave up, and proved time and again on how they move the ball around with some exceptional passing and movement. They were unfortunate not to score on a few occasions due to some top draw saves from the WX goalie, but he could not prevent a rocket from Alex Moseley. Should also not forget the impressive man of the match Benan Hassan who kept a cool head, making so many important tackles and then creating attacks with his driving runs and creative passing.

U13 EJA League PBT 1 Hertford Town 1

U16 EJA CHALLENGE CUP 1st Round
London Colney FC 3-3 Potters Bar Town FC
AET (PBTFC WIN 4-3 Pens)
A visit for first time to Colney for 16's today saw a picturesque setting, superb pitch and matching facilities. No sun, wind or rain therefore perfect conditions for the players.
Bar with a bare 12 due to injuries and 2 ISFA England trialist's make a solid positive start controlling 70% of possession and building pressure on the home team. Several great chances are created but are not taken although Colney's keeper makes a terrific one handed save from a friend pile driver. Bar are left to rue those chances when a speculative cross shot from 30 yds pitches up and over Barrett S right on HT to make it 1-0.
A shuffle of the few available sees changes to a more conventional 4-4-2 and although possession evens out Bar equalise when Friend drills home clinically on 55 minutes. Ascendancy with Bar and plenty of corners forced but finish still missing. Finally Sherayabayani decided his crosses needed something different and he bends one in at far post and it nestled in the net... 1-2 and 65 minutes played. Bar look to kill game but some indecisive defending allows Colney a free kick 20 yds out on 75 minutes. Barrett S saves but pushes out to the on rushing winger who stabs home 2-2 into extra time. Not ideal with a small squad!!
Colney fancy this and the bench become vey vocal and this lifts their team who now have their best spell of the game. Driving a now tired Bar backwards they work an angle inside the box and tireless CF finishes with a neat side foot. HT of ET...
Bar regroup and go for broke. The final 10 minutes played in Colney's half and with 2 to go Friend spins and hits a great shot past the overworked keeper. Onto Pens...... And Gorgulu, Johnson, Friend and Bejtullahu score with Barrett S making a save and forcing another over the bar to see us through to the next round.
