Trophy trip to the seaside ends in victory

Two goal in a five minute spell gave the Scholars a deserved win and sees them through to the next round of the FA Trophy.

A game played in glorious (if a little chilly) sunshine in front of a disappointing crowd of 154 - Margate's lowest of the season- provided Potters Bar with a second win in a difficult week, and sent the Bararmy home happy.

A bright opening saw both teams create chances as an early Jack Paxman cross tested the Bar defence but could not connect with any of the incoming Margate forwards. At the other end Keegan Cole and Dernell Wynter combined well to cause problems for the Margate defence but Wynter's shot failed to trouble the home 'keeper.

But it was Bar who took the lead with just ten minutes gone . A Keegan Cole corner from the left was not dealt with by the home defence, the ball fell to Bradley Sach, and the striker made no mistake.

The same player was on hand just five minutes later as a Dernell Wynter shot was spilled by Margate 'keeper Henry Newcombe with the ball falling to Sach to gleefully tuck it away and make it 2-0 .

Bar looked to make it more and with Sandro Costa causing Margate problems on the left it looked only a matter of time .

But despite chances for Billy Adcock and and Dernell Wynter it was the home side who scored next. A 37th minute Paxman cross from the right found the head of the dangerous Frannie Collins for Joe taylor to make it 2-1 at half time.

The second half was a less entertaining affair with both sides struggling to test the opposition 'keeper. The best of the chances, though, fell to the Scholars. Sean Grace almost made it three, rising above the Margate defence to head a Keegan Cole corner down only to see it bounce over the bar on the 3g surface.

Bradley Sach came close to sealing his hat trick with seconds remaining, breaking into the box only to be denied by a fine tackle from Jordan Robins . Sach, however, will not be too disappointed with a four goal haul from the two games this week.
