Youth team's results from the weekend of October 22nd/23rd

U9 MHMRL: Cuffley Youth Warriors vs Youth – 0v2

After a very even first 10 minutes our under 9s got the breakthrough they deserved scoring from a corner through Callum. After the goal went in the home side sat back for much of the first half giving Bar lots of possession to pass the ball around. We found it difficult to breakdown a well organised team particularly in the final 3rd. Thankfully, our second goal did come just before half time when Micah had 2 shots saved with the 2nd being palmed into the path of Marcus who tapped it in at the back post.

The 2nd half started much the same as the 1st with our boys having much of the play but continuing to find it hard to pick out a player clear in the box. No goals second half despite plenty of opportunities. Man of the match performance from Joe. Final score 2 nil.

U11 – Youth: No Game

U11 FRIENDLY: Scholars vs Norseman – 1v5

Maybe the early kick off meant some of our players were still asleep, but they woke up once the first goal went to the opposition. Another two were conceded on the break as we put pressure on them. However, we pulled one back just before half time with a tap-in by Albert following a nice bit of play by Luca. For a time it looked like we might have got on to even terms, but the break came at the wrong time.
Although a league below us, nothing should be taken away from a very good performance by Norsemen who passed and moved the ball very well, and were stronger in the tackle and all seemed to have another gear in speed and when reacting to any second balls, which led to two more goals in the second half, one being an absolute screamer that no goalie could have stopped. It may have been many more if man of the match Alex hadn’t been in defence repelling many a Norseman attack.

U11 FRIENDLY: Whites vs Mill Hill Village – 4v5

A very slow sloppy start saw us concede 4 goals in the first 10 minutes. After a tactical change and the introduction of Rio we steadied the ship and controlled the rest of the first half, a better understanding of the newly introduced offside rule would have seen us come in at half time with the score line much closer but it remained 4-0 after 2 disallowed goals.

After a half time team talk and a combination of encouraging words and the hairdryer treatment we stated the 2nd half with our usual passion and desire to win. Three great team goals with our usual pass and move fluency finished off by Adam, Benan and Anthony saw us get the score line back to 4-3, whilst pushing for the equaliser we again let one in on the break to make it 5-3,

We pushed hard and got our 4th to make it 5-4 with a great finish from Kyle who went on to score another couple but again both were ruled out by the linesman. We committed ourselves to scoring the equaliser but conceded late on again against the run of play whilst pushing hard and high up the pitch.

The score line hugely flattered the opposition but one thing that was really impressive was the way their defence played the offside rule pushing out as soon as they had cleared their lines, a lesson for us to learn from both defensively and how to play against from an attacking prospective.

U13 EJA - PBT 6 Ryan Fc 2

U16 EJA - Barton Rovers 0 PBT 1

U18 EJA No Game

U18 MHRML - Cheshunt Youth 4 PBT 3
A bear 11 took to the field, with one player nursing a foot injury, however they took an early lead through a good finish from H. Orton. The team were creating chances and D.Bernbaum went on a run and finished well to double the lead. H.Orton then scored again to put PBT 3-0 up. Cheshunt were dangerous on the break and J.Mangan in goal made a couple of good saves. Half Time.
Second half and then the turning point of the game, T.Webb-Pinnock pulled up with a hamstring problem and had to leave the field, down to 10 men. Cheshunt started to take control of the game, as D. Akinbobola's pre game foot injury also started to affect his ability to run. Cheshunt scored 3 goals to equalise before their keeper made a great save to deny H. Orton his hat trick. Then just before the end Cheshunt scored the winner. A good performance with many players missing and others nursing injuries.

U21 No game
