U9 MHMRL Emerald: Wheathampstead Wanderers Sharks vs Youth

Another Top Division win for The Bar !!!
Starting in our now favoured Christmas tree formation the boys started the game brightly, playing lots of nice passes through midfield. Neither team created too many chances but our boys edged it. The first goal coming from a lovely shot on the spin by Conor with the ball ricocheting off the post and in. The home team tried to push forward after the goal but any attack was quickly snuffed out by Max at the back and Harry in goal dealing with a couple of long range shots easily.
The second half started with us on the front foot the boys winning their individual 1v1 battles. Their keeper was the busier making several saves. Slowly the home team did start to push us back coming close with a corner that fizzed across the goal mouth. With time running out for the home team our boys never panicked and kept composed. With a few minutes left in the game, MoTM Levi, found himself free on the right wing, he delivered a perfect cross to Conor. Conor coolly shifted the ball onto his right foot and slotted the ball in the bottom corner, game over !!

U11 FRIENDLY: WhiteWebbs Eagles vs Scholars

On bitterly cold North London morning in Enfield we managed to get the game on with sweeping sleet and snow. The boys were in their element, playing again some excellent football with spreading the ball left to right and decisive passing. Their work rate and desire was once again spot on, and all their efforts in training and development from week to week is now showing. There is still work to be done, and all are pleased to start the second half of the season continuing with such good promise ‎
The home team could not handle the quick passing and patterns of play that continually played in our two wingers in Jack and Ayoub, both playing as well as each other and Whitewebbs initially struggled to cope. Our first goal had many involved from Freddie’s roll out, on to JP who played in Jack who then by-passed two defenders and an oncoming third, to then deliver a cross for the oncoming Ayoub who volleyed home. To return the favour, there was again some great interchange between players and then this time Ayoub fed Jack who hammered home. Ayoub capped his M-oTM performance with a sublime 20 yard unstoppable curler and ensured our 4-3 win
We should still mention the rest with Freddie who made some good saves and had no chance with 3 of their efforts which mainly came through the addition of a 13 year old in the second half! Freddie again this week distributed well and created some of our attacks from the back. The defence held well considering the power/speed of the home addition, with Alex marshaling brilliantly, and supported well through Alfie, JP, Nathan and Olly. The midfield combos of Harry, Luca, and Luis was also too hot to handle, with their strength, vision and great distribution. Harry capped another fine display and scored with a cool bottom corner finish, but forgot his trademark celebration! It was a shame not to see Kyle score who made himself available with great movement throughout and was unfortunate not to score with the few opportunities he had, but should be pleased as he was a constant thorn in home the side. He like many others had an excellent goalkeeper to beat and when they manage to beat him, either the post or the bar were the difference.

Well done to U18 with a very convincing away win in the cup moving them into the quarter finals. Good wins also for U9 and U11 scholars. Difficult games for U13s (poor quality astro pitch and against a team containing giants) and also U18 MHRML who had players missing.
