PBT Scholars vs East Herts Youth Blues

Good 5-0 win by the Scholars for a match which was close to not being played.
The away team unfortunate only had 8 available players and after going 2 nil up it was agreed that we would go to 8 too. We played within ourselves and all know how we can play, however, considering the circumstances the boys kept on task and did well. At times playing some really good football and showed signs that they could open up the opposition at will. There was some very good inter-change between midfielders and striker, resulting in both Kyle and Jack scoring two each and assisting each other for their respective goals. The whole midfield contributed well and ran the game with great work rate through Ellis, Alex, Luis and the wizardry of Harry. Harry was rewarded with his all-round display with some mesmerizing foot work to score a wonder goal.

All of this was made possible by the defense that did not let Harrison have a strike on goal. This was made up of the crunching tackles of Archie and Lambo, complimented by the distribution of Luca and the lynchpin man of the match Nathan who marshalled the defense with great positional play, composure and communication.

U12 MHRML Green Division

PBT Whites vs Paringdon Youth Leopards

Potters Bar Whites complete hat trick of home wins for the U12s

Having been allocated the last match time slot again, the Whites were under pressure to deliver, following the two wins already chalked up by the Youth and Scholars earlier in the day.

There’s nothing quite like a team with a feline referencing moniker to stir the Whites who were desperate to improve on the draw they managed on the away leg of this fixture, where they had thrown away a 2-0 lead at half-time. Lining up in our already solid defence comprising of Tailyer and George was our Brazilian supremo Paulo, who looked to emulate Roberto Carlos the other famous left back.
Within 3 minutes, this didn’t look like a clever move as the whites were caught napping with a quick fire goal that gave the visitors an early lead. Thankfully, most of our supporters were busy queuing for the amazing spread that another one of the many bake-off contender parents Davinder and sous chef Kaush had laid on.

The boys lined up again and their mood seemed to be sharp and hungry as they reset once again, putting the goal behind them as they started to go at the visitors with a blend of force and fluidity of passing that had our fans in raptures. The Leopards were living on the edge as wave after wave of attacks came at them. Our defence stood firm and pressed with a high line to release our attacking mid-field, under pinned by Josh S, our no nonsense enforcer who spread the play out to Josh M or Anthony on the wings to stretch the play out wide as our attacking line of Adam and Liam and then Ollie closed in on the opposition’s
18 yard box time after time.

The Whites never missed an opportunity to have a go on goal and at 25 minutes, the Paringdon defence was finally breached as Josh M fired home from close range to even up the score. The White’s game plan was to press high, close down relentlessly in midfield and demonstrate complete discipline in their defensive third. The second goal came shortly after, as the tireless and marauding Olli, who was on fire, (earning himself man of the match) laid on an excellent assist to Josh S who smashed home to end the half 2-1.

The mood at half time was buoyant, but the boys have been here before, so the talk was about concentration and even increasing the work rate because we knew that Paringdon would come out fighting and fighting they did as we paid for a misunderstanding against the run of play that saw them even up the score early on. The game became physical as the match took on aggressive edge as Paringdon started to create a few chances spurred on by their goal, but we have Yusef between the sticks and our brilliant keeper kept the score even. As Drew came on with new boy Jonathan, the balance of power swung towards the Whites and as Josh M broke through, the defender who was beaten by skill, tried desperately to pull him down, but he was also beaten by sheer will and determination as he slotted home to send the home crowd into raptures for a deserved 3-2 win.
