U18 draw in great game against Hayes & Yeading
Potters Bar Town U18 drew 3-3 against Hayes & Yeading
On Thursday night our U18 squad welcomed Hayes & Yeading to the Pakex stadium for the Bostik youth league match.
The game was a fantastic advert for the youth league due to the standard of football on show by both teams.
The first half was fast and furious with both teams playing good football but PBT were on top with creating the better chances but had to wait until 20minutes before the first goal was scored. The lead was doubled 6 mins later with a great strike. The team went in 3-0 at half time following another goal on 40mins. There were also other chances.
The second half started and no one expected, what happened. The game was still being played at a furious pace and both teams were a credit to the clubs. Hayes started to put on some pressure and got a goal early in the half. 3-1 Although the visits seemed like a more probing team in the second half PBT still looked comfortable although not as dominant. Changes to personnel and Hayes started to control the game. Then with around 15mins to go they scored a very good goal. 3-2. The game was now end to end with both teams looking for another goal. Normal time expired and so into added on time. Then in the final minute of added time we conceded a freekick on the edge of the centre circle in our own half. The Hayes team knew that this was the last opportunity and the player hit the shot and it went into the top corner above the diving home keeper. A fantastic strike which lead to jubilant celebrations from the visitors. 3-3. The game restarted but the referee blew up to end the match.
Credit to our visitors tonight on keeping going and digging out the finale and the draw. The home team felt it was 2 points dropped when considering the half time position.
We look forward to another exiting game in the return fixture in the new year.
