ABOUT PCC

About Poulton Cricket Club ABOUT PCC
Poulton Cricket Club is a registered charity whose purpose is the promotion of cricket to all. The club runs two senior sides that play on Saturdays and a Sunday side.

The club was founded in 1891 and has a proud tradition and heritage of cricket in the district and the county. In its early years the club played its cricket in the grounds near Priory Farm. The early games were against sides in the local area, with the first recorded match being against Ampney United with the latter gaining the upper hand.

The club took up residence at its current location in 1979 following a huge effort by its members to prepare the grounds and create the new facilities.

CRICKET FOR ALL

Poulton Cricket Club exists to provide its members with the opportunity to enjoy and thrive within the sport of cricket. Membership to Poulton Cricket Club is welcomed to anyone without discrimination of gender, ethnicity, creed, or disability. The club will provide this opportunity in an environment that is safe for its young players, and provides a sporting challenge for all its members. The club will invest in its facilities and its resources in order to continually improve these opportunities.

TEAMS

Poulton Cricket runs a First XI, a Second XI and a Sunday Cricket Team. The members that sustain the Club are those who play and contribute to the senior teams and their interests and contribution are the most important stakeholder of the success of the club.

The First XI gained promotion to Division 1 of the Gloucestershire County League in 2008 and in order to continue to create challenge for new players, it will be setting the objective to establish itself in the 1st Division in future years with the eventual aim to gain promotion to the West of England Premier League (WEPL).

The Second XI plays competitive cricket in the Gloucestershire County League and in 2010 gained promotion to Division 8. In order to ensure long-term challenge for its players coming through the junior section the Second XI will set its sights on achieving promotion to the higher divisions of the GCL.

The Sunday Team plays friendly cricket with sides in the CDC area - it provides an additional opportunity to enjoy cricket outside the competitive leagues and to provide additional experience of adult cricket for some of the better and senior juniors at the club.

JUNIOR CRICKET

Poulton Cricket Club has spent the last few years concentrating on improving the opportunities it provides for children and emphasises the importance of enjoying cricket whatever level of ability. In 2010 we had over 130 children registered and over 80 regularly turning out for coaching at the different age group each week.
