Apologies all for the late match report but had a busy week, also as I have now has a few sleeps my memory of the game is a bit hazy but here goes!
This week Prenton welcomed Oldershaw to Prenton Dell, we had already played Oldershaw twice this season conceding over 100 points & not yet registered a single point against our close neighbours. However recent results & performances & playing at home we were up for the game & confident of getting a result (which is exactly what I would & the players should expect).

We got off to our all to common slow start & were down 12 points in as many minutes & had not yet even touched the ball. Finally we got some ball & had a good crack at the the visitors line, held up on & over on a couple of occasions & was good to see a bit of variation in our play with a couple of cross field kicks from Knappo which on another day may have bounced our way & returned greater rewards. Credit to Oldershaw they defended really well & repelled everything we threw at them. Our penalty count was not great & we often gifted the visitors more territory than they deserved. but even so they had Soaked up all our pressure & made their way up the field & over our try line again, & then again almost instantly from the restart. So the the half finished 0-26 to the visitors.
The half time attitude was good & positive with the belief that if they could score 26 points in 40 minutes then so could we. Attacking the club house as well equalled lets go for it! unfortunately it was Oldershaw who scored the first try of the second period & their kicker also had a good day so we found ourselves 33 points down & probably game over. Credit to our players, they kept on going & never once gave up. Again put the Oldershaw try line under big pressure but again they held firm, our attacks in the last quarter were continuous & although Oldershaw defended well they began to tire & started to give away a lot of penalties in the red zone. A bit to late for Prenton but the ref's patience finally gave in late in the game sin binning 1 player, King of the Wing Graham Leahay went over shortly afterwards, more Prenton pressure put Oldershaw under the pump & conceding more penalties another player was sent to the bin. With the clock in the red the visitors broke out & up field deep into the Prenton 22, some good tackling & a turnover Prenton got the ball back ran the ball out from our try line. The players knowing they had the numerical advantage it was great to them move the ball to the wider channels where the space was, MTH receiving the ball in space & off he went for a clean break up field. Now Josh Woods scored a 'Bobby Dazzaler' from about 90 meters out against Ruskin Park earlier in the season & this was a try to rival Josh's as MTH burst up field a side step & shimmy to beat the covering defence, up & over the half way. The speedy Oldershaw backs all in pursuit, the closest giving a desperate slap tackle which caught MTH's ankles & MTH began to run with his nose about an inch off the floor for the next 10 meters while the defenders slowly closed in! MTH managed to keep his balance & composure straightened up & under the sticks for a fine try (& converted). Well deserved & good to see Prenton get on the score sheet for a couple scores & wining the 2nd half.
Final Score Prenton 14-33 Oldershaw
