Match Report by Garry Jones

A Fixture, that is always fiercely contested, and this was to be no different. With The Knowledge that Hoylake 2's where there only team playing up at Hoylake on the day, and by the noice coming from the ''2'' Changing rooms they asked for, before the game they where coming to battle.
It's Testiment to the level that Prenton 2's have carried on from last season that on a day that Alan Holmes had the pick of all 3 team at Prenton he chose to go with a squad which the core 10-12 lads have been the same week In, Week Out. And all have played for the 2's this season Before This Fixture, With Compo Still turning out for the 2's at the young age of 54. (Inspiration mate)

Prenton Started by utilising all their well drilled moves, Having big game players right throughout the Squad, with the advantage of going towards the club house EVERYONE dug in, With conditions not the best, Passing had to be on the button, Runs where made that extra bit hard with the pitch but for those who braved the Weather (Greatly appreciated) they where treated without being disrespectful to Hoylake to a 1 sided affair and Great 40 minute display from a Prenton Team, Dominating in the pack, which was giving Simon Cushman & Barry Horton Quick Ball to work their magic, 1st Try came from a couple of pick and drives with the big man Mark Brunson finishing off with 1 of his power plays Great TRY Big Man, Kick Missed 5-0
With a combination of hard running, Alan Holmes with a massive run the phase before Todd Bell's Well Taken try (Quality game as always) For Prenton's 2nd Try, Kick Converted 12-0
Guts & Determination was there for all to see ( Stephen Crompton Christopher Kidd Mark Brunson Lee Gordon Roy Triggs Kyle Jackson you lads really have it in abundance) The Quick Feet of Jack Finnerty & Mark Astbury ''Yes'' Mark Astbury when required in Defence and Attack, Jason Torrance some of the work you got through at the Break Down on the quite was immense mate (Top Man Mate) Having Barry Miller back around the 2's has given that added bit of Bite back which at times has been missing.
Prenton 3rd Try Came From Garry Jones after coming on as replacement for Roy Triggs (Taking a little breather after a hard 20 minutes hay matey haha) Driving straight at the middle of the Hoylake defence, with some good initial defence From Hoylake, Todd Bell took the ball on an extra phase and then Garry Jones from 5 meters out at the back of the ruck picked and went over right on the posts. Kick Converted 19-0

2nd Half
Hoylake Hoylake Hoylake.... Prenton Defence!!! 40 minutes that Hoylake dominated as much as Prenton Dominated the 1st With quite a few changes on the Hoylake side, with the advantage of attacking the Club House they Tested the Prenton defence to the maximum scoring 2 converterd trys 19-14. Prenton only looking dangerous when Robert Johnston Craig Splaig James & Rob Seabury, having some Joy with Break away runs (Helped all the lads out, even if it did leave u needing oxygen lol)

MOTM - Could of easily went to 4-5 with Some Stand out performances Ace, Todd to Name but 2 but Skippers MOTM Goes to Kyle Jackson for his all round action man display!!!

TOTM - Surprising from such a high quality effort but could of had a pick of 2-3 Some Not Remembering KO Time Craig Splaig James lol, Garry Jones next time you want a breather don't follow your name sake Neil Jones and get a yellow, But TOTM Awarded by the skipper goes to the skipper Alan Holmes for getting the worlds biggest bandage for a paper cut (wink wink)
