This week saw Prestatyn under 8s, 9s 12s, 13s and 15s take on development squads from Morcambe. All 5 groups showed good potential against a very very strong Morcambe set up.
The under 8s played 4 15 min games and did extremely well. Losing 2-0, 2-0, 1-0 and a 0-0 draw against what was a fantastic Morcambe team with some very strong players.
The under 9s also lost 3-1 overall with both managers saying it was great to see the quality of the football and the spirit in which the game was played being so high and good.
Trevor Dutton was very pleased with both his squads. Carl and Sara have done tremendously well today with the players he said. They did what I expected and the players really respect them. I am so looking forward to the next few games with these players and the future looks good.
Later that evening Prestatyn Under 12s took to the pitch against Morcambe under 11s. This turned out to be game of the week. A fantastic 4-4 draw in an end to end game with high quality football. Again both managers extremely happy with the performances of their squads.
On Wednesday it was the turn of the 13s and 15s. The 13s were up first and they won their game with an impressive 3-1 result. They played 3 25 min games and Morcambe were probably the stronger in the first 25. Prestatyn then took their limited chances and turned them into goals for the second 25 and the third 25 was very equal.
Then it was the turn of the 15s for the final game. Morcambe started the stronger and dominated the first half with Prestatyn having only limited attacks. Morcambe went in at half time 1-0 up. The second half was a different story and was more equal. Prestatyn could have nicked a draw when Aleds effort from 30 yards hit the post but Prestatyn couldn't find a way through. Max did extremely well in goal and kept Prestatyn in it at times.
Neil Gibson had come to cast an eye over the 15s and was pleased he had. Neil said there are some quality players out there and pointed out 6 that he felt had a touch of class about them. This was fantastic as the team looking after them have had a tough season putting this squad together and its only in the last 3 months that they have been consistently together as a squad in which time they beat Llandudno and drew with Bangor as well as winning the International Tournament in Bolton.
So a great few days with some quality football which only wets the appetite for next season
