U11s Keep Their Standard Up

Town came into the game with several players unavailable due the area schools matches, injury and unavailability but that did not show as they controlled most of the match creating numerous chances throughout but found the visiting keeper in sublime form.

Town gave a debut to local Prestatyn Athletic starlet Priya Kerfoot who delivered a performance suggesting she had been there all season, looking comfortable and composed throughout sniffing out most Conwy attacks.

Indeed Town started the brighter playing most of the football in the opposition half. The tireless Jack Jones controlling most of the play which allowed Rhys Butler, Zack Jones, Ryan Gizzi and Zak williams to attack with regularity. The deadlock was almost broken as Williams unleashed a fierce shot which rattled the upright. Town continued on the front foot as more impressive work on the right from Alfie Mathews, Gizzi and Williams who whipped the ball in from the right which was met by the onrushing Butler but who was unable to keep his shot underneath the bar. Up stepped Conwy's keeper who kept out shots from both Jones' as Town couldn't find a way through. Conwy threatened on occasions but found keeper Jaden Smith in solid form. The third finishing 0-0.

Changes were made in the second 20 as Town introduced trialist Jake Evans and Ieuan Jones. Again Town were in the ascendancy but it was the visitors who took the lead after Jack Jones was dispossessed when looking to get his shot off and within seconds a shot down the other end managed to find its way through a crowd of players into the corner to make it 1-0. Town responded positively but again could not find a way passed the exquisite handling of the Conwy stopper.

The last third saw more changes as Mathews replaced Alex Woodhead and Butler on for Gizzi as Town searched for the equaliser but again were caught by two sucker punches following some defensive errors. Despite countless more efforts and maximum effort from all players it was just one of those days as the game finished 3-0. The only concern was an injury picked up by impressive Zack Jones in the last 5 mins who was taken off as a precaution.

Town's coaching staff were thoroughly delighted with the performance and it was unfortunate they did not get the result to match but its onwards and upwards as Town as they welcome Airbus in 7 days time and will be looking to get back to winning ways with players to come back in.
