Since Griffiths was appointed Captain at the beginning of the 2009/10 season, he has guided them to 4th and 3rd place finishes. Griffiths now has his sights firmly set on another high-place finish, and see's no reason why they cannot finish in the top 3 this season. Griffiths said "The top 2 are currently 9 and 10 points ahead, and it is very likely that they will be the top 2 come the end of the season. However, we are currently 2 points behind 3rd place and still have to play the "big" teams at home". Blackburn are the first opponents of 2012 and Preston are hoping they can take something from the game after a respectful 2-0 defeat away from home. They then travel to Northen, a side they car capable of beating, before rounding off January at home to Keswick. Preston were narrowly beaten 2-1 up at Keswick and will be looking to get a win here. February see's a visit to Southport and a home match against Kirkby Lonsdale, before ending the season in March away at Morecambe. There are still plenty of points to play for, a win on Saturday would take Preston 3rd depending on results elswhere. It would also close the gap on the top to 7 points with 15 points still available to play for including 3 points up for grabs against 2nd placed Kirkby Lonsdale. So a top 3 finish is still a very realistic target for Preston.
