A fantastic squad of workers have been in action almost from the minute we got the keys and a great deal of work has been done, although there will always be plenty of odd jobs and problem corners that need attention so please don't be shy and come down whenever you can to lend a hand.
Achievements so far include ..............
The gym equipment has been set up and is in use!!
The main hall has been painted and cleaned (including carpet) with only the finishing touches still to be completed. Same with the entrance hall and ladies and gents toilets.
The outside walls and gate have also been painted so first impressions are excellent as visitors approach from the car park.
The kitchen is taking shape and we are grateful for the donations of various pieces of vital equipment such as fridge, cooker and microwave ovens.
Last week, Bob Howie put 13 potential bar tenders through their paces as regards the official theory test which is compulsory for anyone who intends serving behind the bar. One of the main stumbling blocks has been that we have been unable to get the bar set up so that those people could gain practical experience in serving drinks and using the till etc.
For those reasons, we have decided to postpone the Music & Curry Night that we had been hoping to hold this Saturday and we'll have that a week later, on Saturday 13th April instead. This event will be strictly limited to 80 people so as to give the new bar staff a chance to get used to proper service, so if you want to go make sure you get a ticket. They cost £8.
There will also be practical 'hands on' bar training for those who sat the theory test next Wednesday evening (10th) from 7pm til 10pm
- the (paying) customers will be those who have worked hard to clean and redecorate plus a few other invited guinea pigs, so please put a note in your diary if you fall into that category.
Right - that's about it for now so thanks again for all the help from the volunteers so far and please come and help if you can.
