PL Give Forrester the Chop

Preston Lodge returned to action after a three week lay off with a convincing 15 try win over Forrester in the Edinburgh District Shield. This sees them safely through the first stage on the road to Murrayfield but the next rounds will undoubtedly pose bigger challenges.

Forrester have had a decent season and will finish third in East League Division 2 but the gulf between the sides was evident right from the kick off as PL's bigger pack and more powerful back division were able to drive through tackles and score almost at will as the match progressed.
The heavy rain over the previous two days meant that Pennypit Park wasn't in the best condition and made things difficult for the normally pacy home side but this didn't detract from the effort they put in as they battled to win every ball and put together moves that their opponents just could not match.

Despite the conditions and the bitterly cold wind, there was a good atmosphere in the ground as it was the annual Ladies Day and the crowd was boosted by over 60 ladies loudly cheering on the boys. This year, to mark the occasion the PL players and supporters showed their support of East & Mid Lothian Women’s Aid by wearing White Ribbons to highlight the need to stop domestic abuse.

After 70 minutes, following the final try which involved a brilliant handling move and was finished off by Graeme Patterson, the referee brought the game to a close with the scoreline at 95-0.
