PL Find Themselves in a Jam at Hamilton

Major roadworks on the M8 meant that Preston Lodge and the referee arrived late at Laigh Bent, home of league leaders Hamilton on Saturday and so the kick off time had to be delayed by 40 minutes.
Both sides were unbeaten so far this season but Hamilton had the advantage due to their impressive try scoring record which ensured that they had taken maximum five points from each of their three games so far and this form would continue as they proved too strong for PL as they ran out worthy winners in the end.
PL just failed to take a consolation bonus point as they could only manage three tries despite playing some entertaing and attacking rugby but the Hamilton defence proved too strong.
Hamilton raced into an 18-0 lead before youngster Andy Horne was on target to score for the second week in a row to make it 18-5. The home side picked themselves up from that setback to increase their lead again to 26-5 and were then attacking on PL's try line when the ever alert PL scrum half Dale Gordon pounced on a loose pass and ran the length of the field to score an opportunistic try under the posts. Nathan Ross added the conversion to make the score 26-12.
Jonathan Brash would add PL's third try before the end and that would complete their scoring for the afternoon but there was no stopping Hamilton as they continued to rack up the points until the scoreboard showed 43-17 at the end.

This was definitely PL's toughest test in Division 2 this season and an away fixture against the league leaders may be as difficult as it will get but Mark Steedman's men will be keen to get things back on track when they face West of Scotland in the Cup at The Pennypit next Saturday. KO 3pm.
