We have had some very tough games lately, playing the top three teams in a row we knew it was going to be hard going. The boys have learnt alot from those games and coming up against Berrow we were confident of a good result.
We always say "never underestimate your opponents and always show them respect". We did that, and started the game strong, our starting seven were Nuttycombe in goal, Massey and Ricardo in defence a midfield of Smith, Griffiths and Druce with 'The Hammer' Shilton up front. On the bench we had Tolan-Grant and Masters.
We were up for this one and right from the off we had the edge, the boys were showing some great composure on the ball and were passing well between them selves. Alot of early pressure resulted in some corners, taken from the right we had Druce curling them in with his left foot, the cry went out "HAND BALL" the ref had no choice than to award the penalty.
This was a job for Druce who with his rocket powered left foot strikes the ball so hard to the bottom left of goal the keeper hardly moved.
1-0 up and the second half kicks off, we had made some changes with Shilton taking a rest Tolan-Grant stepped into the forwards roll, also Masters came for Smith.
The changes affected the balance of the team and we found ourselves under more pressure. Berrow started to push into our penalty area and had some good chances. The equaliser came when the Berrow forward showed great persistence in the tackle and battled through three Pumas and beat Nuttycombe to make it 1-1.
Despite the result and feeling a little unlucky it was a great game, all the boys played well individually and as a team. Man of the Match was a tough one but went to Nuttycombe in the end for some great goal keeping, well done 'Vinnie'.
Well done lads lets take this commitment into the next game and finish the season on a high.
Proud to be a Puma
