Under 11’s player Jacob Matthews - affectionately known as Stan - was this week picked as Trainer of the Week by Under 11’s Coach Glenn Weeks after an outstanding display in training.

The Under 11’s and the Dads were worked really hard by Coaches Glen, Peter Stokes, Tone Butler and Sean Owens and Stan stood out all morning for his effort, skill and application.

Speaking to the Priory website Glenn said “Stan really caught my eye today in every drill that we did. We had one drill that involved getting the ball back accurately to one of two other players who were stood on cones by various methods – heading, volleying with the instep, volleying with the laces, controlling on the chest or thigh then passing with a specific foot etc. Stan was great at that drill and whereas some players were knocking it all over the place, Stan just kept concentrating and getting it back every time.”

“In the game at the end, we imposed a condition that the ball couldn’t go over knee height to encourage the boys to pass on the ground and he was excellent all the way through” added Glenn, “so I just had to award the bib to young Stanley”!!
