A great weekend for the Proj with two wins, ten goals and a game of monopoly to finish it off...

Saturday saw us take to the stockbroker belt to face AFC Molesey away, who definitely aren’t stockbrokers, in a game that, based on our first match-up, we knew would be a physical encounter where every loose ball would be a battle. If we were to get something out of the game we would need to show the fight and desire that has been lacking somewhat in the previous three games and really come to the party 2010 style; and jeez louise did we come to the party. It wasn’t the prettiest game, despite a lovely pitch that was wide and suited to our style, but it was a game that saw us show fight and clinical finishing, those elusive yet vital two ingredients in the Project Clapham Pie of Success. Goalscorers on the day were the Mantinator, Yak Holyrod, Pony, Benny Hartson and a rare gem from Winners, who finally got to dedicate a goal to the memory of Jill Dando. Anything that came our way was mopped up by the defence like a teenage boy after an hour on the internet; 5-0 the score and a great team performance from all 14 involved and it was good to see a lively debut from Jono and a first Saturday start since Elvis died for Ash.

Sunday we had a Quarter final, 2 games away from a big CLSSL Final in our first season back and a massive encounter; “it doesn’t get bigger” stated Marksy and we were inclined to agree. Alas the other team lacked such enthusiasm, turning up late, without enough players and without any nets. A walkover awarded to the Proj then, who quickly rustled up the famous black and gold nets, issued Sandmere 3 of our players until some more of theirs arrived, then issued them a good old fashioned *rse raping, 5-1 the final score with cracking finishes from Mulder x2, Aids x2 and Nelson. Good stuff and in the end a good game. Into the semis we go with a match against Prem table toppers Recreativo.

Much celebrating was done both nights, all over south London, with it all finished off with a civilised game of 12 pint Monopoly in the Railway on Sunday…R Barron despatched in style by the Cookie in a closely fought encountered marred by rumours of collusion and backstabbing. A great weekend had by all. Up the Proj!
