U13s CRUISE TO VICTORY OVER CLECKHEATON
Gerard Sharpe's U13s made it two wins in a row with a comfortable win over Cleckheaton at a sunny Tofts Road
Winning the toss and batting Pudsey lost Josh Marsden early on to a mistimed drive which was neatly taken by Cleckheaton skipper Alex Bailey at mid off. A 71 run partnership for the second wicket between Archie Scott and Jack Allman only ended with Archie's retirement which brought a controlled and composed innings to a close. Runs continued to come at a good rate with Curtis at the crease and Jack's run out was the only disappointment in an solid batting display from the home side. Curtis hit five fours in his breezy innings which saw him retire on 30 having helped take the score to 135-2. Cleckheaton sent down 32 extras and Saint LAwrence's innings closed on 136-2 after 20 overs.
Cleckheaton's hopes of a good start in a challenging run chase were ruined when James Pearce bowled opener Jack Bleazard in the fifth over. Nathan Clifford was soon back in the pavillion caught by Tom Frankland off Harrison Emmet-Lee for 5. Cleckheaton has slumped to 34-2. A thirty five run partnership between the impressive Alex Bailey and Steve Noble was ended when John Pearce bowled the Cleckheaton opener for 27. Ben Darling fell to a brilliant diving catch by Archie Scott off Ben Merchant andScott Hartley wasstumped by Jack Allman pulling up thestumps to reduce Cleckheaton to 113-5. Alex Bailey finished uinbeaten on 25 and Cleckheaton'sreply had been restricted to 114-5 off 20 overs seeing Saint Lawrence run out winners by 22 runs.
After last weeks victory over Manningham Mills B Saint Lawrence have notched back to back victories in the League. The match was played in front of a large crowd of supporters from both teams and the cricketers from both teams served up an entertaining contest.
Intrest in John and Colette's Angolan holiday villa reached fever pitch when news broke that KEITH SMITH, father of former PSL first team skipper Jim Smith, announced he had booked the exclusive property for a fortnight at the end of the season. A week in the villa was raffled by Dominic Fleming at tonights match. Unfortunately a roll up from Dominic's mouth fell into the raffle mug and burnt tonights Junior takings.
