Cargo to the rescue! 1st XI beat Astwood Bank on Saturday with H Cargo taking his first 5 wicket haul for the Club. See a round up of Saturday's games

QCC 1st XI vs. Astwood Bank 1st XI

Astwood Bank won the toss and decided to bat on a glorious day at the Oval.

The away side started well with S Adshead and A Robinson getting off to a good start with an opening partnership of 92 runs. However, when A Robinson (26) was caught and bowled by A Biddle the momentum and the game changed. S Adshead went on to score 100 until he was caught nervelessly by A Evans on the boundary off the bowling of H Cargo. Only two of the remaining batsmen managed double figures and Astwood Bank finished on 164 all out off 43.1 overs.

H Cargo took his first 5 wicket haul for the Club and finished with figures of 5 - 36. He was ably backed up by A Biddle who finished with 3 - 32.

This target seemed under par but with Quatt's early form with the bat being anything like it would be a good test.

Quatt found themselves 56 - 3 with R Jones, I Gregory and skipper A Biddle back in the Pavilion. The game was poised nicely as A Evans was joined by T Whitney in the middle. Lose another quick wicket and the momentum would shift in Astwood Bank's favour.

Fortunately for the green and golds A Evans and T Whitney put on 72 runs to steady the ship before A Evans (53) was caught on the boundary. T Whitney (41) and C Harris (25) saw the green and golds home with a 6 wicket win.

Good all round team performance. The season starts now!

Oswestry 2nd XI vs. QCC 2nd XI

QCC won the toss and elected to bat on a hot day at Morda Road. The away side managed 127 all out off 45.3 overs with A Dyke top scoring with 41 runs. This seemed an under par score for the hosts to chase.

Oswestry made light work of the target scoring 131 - 3 off 24.5 overs with J Kirk top scoring with 33 runs. J Matthews took 2 - 39 in her first game for the 2nd XI.

Llanidloes 2nd XI vs. QCC 3rd XI

Unfortunately the 3rd XI had to concede their game due to the lack of availability from senior players in the Club.
