Well done Dave Winters and everyone who helped make the ‘old’ 3rds v ‘new’ 3rds match today at Waterwells a success, and raise £200 for Cancer Researc

Four or so months ago Dave came up with the idea of reassembling the Quedgeley Wanderers 3rds team he captained almost a decade ago to play QWFC’s present-day 3rds for a bit of fun but also to show support for one of the team, who has had a long battle with cancer.

With Dave’s typical resolve and enthusiasm and the goodwill and support of players old and new, his idea came to fruition today with the current QWFC 3rds winning 6 - 2 in a well contested match played in a good spirit in front of a decent turnout of spectators.

Wintz would like to say thanks to his ‘Teamies’, of course, but also to Mark for refereeing, Tom and the current 3rds (not just for playing but also with kit etc), Joe for organising the trophy, Tony for prepping the pitch, Phil for running the line and all those who helped out or contributed in other ways or who came to watch. Hope you all enjoyed the occasion – and there is talk about repeating it next year (minds and bodies willing!).
