Queensbury A finaly broke their Wibsey hoodoo to lift the Bradford Cup with fine defenive performance. Queeny restricted Wibsey A to just one try which was a great acheivement concidering the class of the opposition.
Queeny started the game strongly and constantly drove the Wibsey attack back with some bruising defence from Tom Hainsworth
and Joe Bryan
Quick hands from Boocock and Ruff but Brown in space and he fed winger Tony Clarke
who shot over the line, Boocock converting.
Wibsey hit back with a well worked move that sent fullback Jimmy Rodgers over, Ben Whyte converted.
The half was ended with a penalty kick to Whyte.
Half Time - 8-6
The second half saw more solid defense none more so than when Wibsey had a tap penalty 10m from the Queeny line and Hainsworth mullered Wibseys number 12 Chris Adams, this was followed by the hit of the day. Another tap penalty and the poor Wibsey player ran into man mountain Brett Marriott
who absolutly flattened him!
It was again quick hands from Marriott and Billy Naylor
that put winger Jimmy Artist
stepping to the line for the winning try.
Try as they might Wibsey just couldn't break Queenys defence and spurned the chance to draw level when choosing to tap a penalty with 15min to go.
Best on the day where, Lewis Symonds
, Tom Hainsworth
and Arran Moore
