Attacking Masterclass And A Clean Sheet To Boot!
Radcliffe managed double figures and a clean sheet in a classy squad performance with six different scorers to progress to the quarter final of the FA Challenge Cup.
Today’s FA Challenge cup tie was against Bilborough Town who’d seen off our other U15 Radcliffe team in the previous round.
Radcliffe were on it from the very start with a great display of attacking football, using the width on the right with Nathan Stocks perfectly to create a number of good chances. The trigger happy linesman was winning the day though with George Arrowsmith twice free on goal only to be hauled back.
Ollie Petchell was cutting on from the left and really putting their defence to the sword and the pressure finally told when from a Jack Willis pass Ollie Petchell managed to drill home for 0-1 (8).
Nathan Stocks provided soon after from another lovely run down the right wing and a delightful cross that Ollie Skinner just needed to tap home for 0-2 (13).
Ollie Skinner turned provider next for George Arrowsmith to lash one into the roof of the net for 0-3 (19).
It was pass the assist today as George Arrowsmith soon turned provider after a lovely run into the left channel and a cut back for Ollie Petchell to get his brace 0-4 (27).
A bunch of changes were made to give some fresh legs and Radcliffe continued the onslaught.
Before the end of the half Ollie Petchell wrapped up his hat-trick with a great drilled effort from a Fin Jackson through ball 0-5 (32).
Half time was the chance to get the remaining subs on the pitch and also to try a 3-2-4-1 formation. Harry Timson-Smith and Will Quilter forming a line in front of the now back three gave the midfield a chance to push further forward and create in front of the box.
Josh Jones-Wilkinson, having been introduced at the half, took his chance to join in and was provided with a chance by Will Quilter which he tucked away perfectly for 0-6 (55).
Bilborough were trying their best but couldn’t seem to get out of their own half although on a rare break it was left to Harvey Woodward to protect his clean sheet with a great save having been a spectator for most of the match.
He then decided to turn provider for three quick assists in succession, the first for Harry Timson-Smith with a neatly tucked away effort for 0-7 (66). The second a nice little pass to Ollie Skinner for 0-8 (71) and the final one a corner for Jack Willis to tuck home for 0-9 (74).
With time running out Radcliffe didn’t take their foot off the pedal and the re-introduction of Ollie Petchell put the icing on the cake with Morgan Roberts sliding him in to tuck home for his fourth and Radcliffe’s tenth 0-10 (76).
It was a masterclass of attacking football today from Radcliffe, taking full advantage of their dominance and I’m as proud of the 0 as I am of the 10.
Man of the match could easily have been Nathan Stocks for his terrorising down the right hand side or Josh Jones-Wilkinson for his three assists and a goal in one half but I have to give it to Ollie Petchell for his four goals - unplayable today and never stopped running.
Let’s see who we have in the quarter final...
