Radcliffe won the toss and elected to bat. A new opening partnership of Peirce and Purcell made a relatively slow but solid start. However, once set, they began to play their shots and the run rate picked up rapidly. After hitting eight boundaries, Purcell was the first to retire. With only a few overs to go, Hutchinson and Ashdown both played positively and supported Peirce, before both being bowled. Yarnell was quickly out to a great delivery before Playle and Peirce struck three boundaries between them in the last over. Finished 113 for 3.

Radcliffe's bowlers bowled a consistent line and length and kept Plumtree under pressure. Playle bowled beautifully to remove the two Plumtree openers, giving away just 4 runs for his 2 wickets. Plumtree's middle order then began a fight back and were scoring quickly before Yarnell broke through to ease Radcliffe nerves. Jones, Hutchinson and Sissons each took much deserved wickets and saw Radcliffe home ... a great team effort! Plumtree finished on 85 all out.
