Rob, Kate, Mel and I caught up with Mitchell and Abbey in Sydney. Mitchell is still playing for the University of New South Wales and has a job working in finance. Abbey is working in the hospitality field. They are now engaged. His team currently sit top of the Sydney First Grade competition which is an excellent achievement. In recent weeks he played against Monty Panesar who is playing Grade cricket for Randwick Petersham. I am hoping to get to watch a UNSW game in the next few weeks. Mitchell wished everyone at the club all the best. For those of you who remember Murray Creed it appears he has hung up his boots as he thinks he is too old. Mitchell said the second team talked him out for a game last year and without practicing he scored a double hundred.
Mel and I recently travelled from Sydney and toured the Great Ocean Road after which we spent 4 days in Melbourne where we caught up with Waddington. Waddington is currently employed by Cricket Victoria on their Inner City cricket programme. They have told him they are very pleased with him and will support his application for citizenship. He is desperate for this to happen. He is in good health and now married to his girl friend from Zimbabwe. She is in Melbourne with him. His job is very much summer orientated and he is currently not allowed to do any other work. Fortunately his wife works in child care and between them they are doing ok. His family are currently safe but were unable to get out of Zimbabwe. He currently plays for a club called Youlden Parkville. This is the club Simon Hopson and James Godrich played for last winter.
