Through the hard work of Nigel and contributions of several others the Sat 1st team were able to play at the club against Belvior in the SNCL. The pools of water laying on the ground and on the square on Thursday were mopped up and a sound wicket prepared. In a thrilling match a one wicket win was achieved.
In the afternoon the village Carnival proved a success and our contribution to the selling of raffle tickets was much appreciated. A donation to the Club by the Carnival committee is expected to be well worth the effort. Thanks go to Paul and Diddy Roche for their commendable efforts in overseeing donations of prizes and the selling of the tickets.
In the evening 80 club members gathered in the Clubhouse for a Curry and Quiz Social event. Thanks go to the Social committee for organising the evening. Quiz Master Charlie Noblet taxed the brains of the 8 to 65 year olds and Shaheed Khan planned and sourced the food. An excellent evening was had by all and thanks go to all who contributed to the event.
On Sunday 120 under 11's took part in the annual Kwik Cricket Festival. The event started at 10pm and each team played 5 league games with the top sides progressing to semi finals and then a final. The novice team representing Dunkirk FC ran out worthy winners. Thanks go to Barry Trussler for setting up the event, Sophie Booth and her group of mums for preparing lunches. Karen Marks, Mark and Kay Fish provided refreshments and food throughout the day.
Let's continue to be positive despite the rain
WELL DONE EVERYONE.
Dan
