Reserves outmuscled

Radford reserves got off to a great start with a goal in the first five minutes scored by Martin Doyle. James Lawrence-Forbes had a shot cleared off the line and Doyle followed up to tap in from close range. Radford were looking good value for their lead and Hucknall were reduced to taking pot shots from long range. But on 11 minutes a defender was outmuscled and the Hucknall number 11 hit the post with a low drive. From the resulting corner the same player rifled in a shot that beat Radfords keeper ending in the Radford net 1-1. One minute later Hucknalls number 4 beat Two defenders before striking the ball past Radfords keeper to put the home side 2-1 up. There was no further score at half time but it was evident Hucknall now held the upper hand.

The Radford management took the bold step of introducing Three substitutes at half time and Chris Muldoon came close to putting Radford level soon after the restart when a cross/shot hit the Hucknall crossbar. Radford were lucky not to concede a penalty when it seemed a defender had handled in the area. Lewis Soal made a terrific close range save when he managed to parry a header on the hour.
At the other end Radfords Rowbotham was played through but the keeper made a good save with his legs, the rebound fell to Doyle but he could only hit his shot wide of the goal.

Radford were caught out minutes later when a ball over the top found a striker who ran on to score. Radford were to suffer further agony a minute later when they conceded a penalty which was coverted to make the final score 4-1 in Hucknalls favour.
