Reserves battle for a point at Kimberley MW

Never say die

Straight from the kick off it was evident Radford would be involved in a physical encounter at Kimberley. The young referee dealt well with most of the over zealous challenges that the home side were putting in. Kimberley’s 3 big midfielders were winning the midfield battle and getting through at an alarming rate. The Radford defence had to be at the top of their game to thwart the increasing number of chances that were being created. Jack Nason in the Radford goal pulled off a series of excellent saves to keep Radford in the game.

After several corners were awarded to the home side, Nason was beaten with a far post header on the half hour. Rather than crack under the pressure Radford fought back. Radford were finding space along the wings. Harry Pezzolla was overlapping to good effect on the right wing while the pace and trickery of Tim Harrung was causing problems for the left side of the home defence. Against the run of play Radford found an equaliser on 43 minutes when Tim Harrung cut inside and sent in a powerful dipping effort from 25 yards that beat the keeper and landed in the top corner of the net.

Radford had more possession at the start of the second half but injuries to several players meant substitutions had to be made. Jack Smith came more into the game and he was supplying some well timed passes for Ellis Anson and Obinna Abuka to have shots from just outside the area. The home side were trying their luck with long range shots, but their efforts were hit wide or saved by Jack Nason.
Midway into the half Radford lost cente half Hobster with a knee injury and were forced to use their last substitute. Kimberley looked like scoring when several corners led to scoring chances as full time was approaching. Radford were looking the stronger as the game went in to time added on and could have found a winning goal themselves after a good passing move led to Obinna Abuka hitting a low drive thar hit a post before rebounding to safety.

Final score - Kimberley MW Reserves 1 Radford Reserves 1
