2nd Team Captain is Announced
We are proud to announce that the new 2nd team captain is Steven Tilley.
In line with our promise to improve things at the Club, we are proud to announce one of the most significant steps taken this winter. Steven Tilley will be taking over the role as 2nd Team Captain with immediate effect. It is hoped his appointment will bring back some solidarity to the 2nd team. There have been a number of problems since we lost Ray and it is hoped that Steven's experience of the Club will help to move things forward. We hope that he can re-engage some of the lads who last year decided not to play cricket. It is also hoped he can retain some of the lads who became disillusioned with the cricket club.
For Steven, this is a massive step. As someone who has made himself a 1st team regular over the past two seasons, he will be sorely missed from this level. However, we have tried to act in the best interests of the Club as a whole and have taken into account the bigger picture. Steven has not taken this decision lightly and he should be highly commended on the attitude he has taken. He sees that the Club has offered him a great deal over the past 10 years and he would now like to 'give something back'. He has removed his personal ambition of wanting to play at the highest level and thought about the Club first and foremost. We would hope that given the tough times we have faced over the past 12 months that other members will now follow suit and will get on board and build on the momentum and feel good factor we have created this winter.
