In the FA Cup Preliminary Round, on 25th August, the Wrens will travel to the winners of the Extra Preliminary Round tie between Sleaford Town (United Counties Premier) and East Midlands Counties outfit Holwell Sports, from the Melton Mowbray area.
Victory in that match could set up a first qualifying round tie on 8th September for manager Kevin Gee against his former managerial partner and ex-Wrens coach Les McJannet, if his Carlton Town side overcome either Oadby Town or Anstey Nomads.
Meanwhile, the Trophy draw has been a little kinder, and Rainworth will hope to progress beyond the first hurdle for the first time at the third attempt when they entertain Southern League Central Division Leighton Town, from Leighton Buzzard in Bedfordshire, in the Preliminary Round on 15th September.
If they succeed they will be back on the road, to face a fellow Division One South club in either relegated Mickleover Sports or Romulus, on 29th September.
Thank heaven for the home draw, thats a 104 mile journey we wont have to make!!
Unless we draw, then we will - in midweek.
