Rainworth travelled to the League’s form team Barton Town, nine wins and two draws in their last eleven league games.
After 90 minutes there was nothing between the sides as Barton extended their unbeaten run to twelve games.
In an evenly contested match, Barton came nearest to scoring but both attacks were shut out by strong defensive displays.
Rainworth almost went behind in the first attack of the game when Josh Tennant’s effort came back of the bar and was cleared. His effort from distance in the 10th minute was wide of the target.
In the 19th minute Richard Adams defused the danger when blocked Ethan Nelson’s effort at the expense of a corner. A goal-mouth scramble ensued from the resultant corner-kick, but Brad Jones was on hand to clear the ball off the line.
A couple of minutes later Rainworth had their first attempt on goal but Kyle Jordan’s free-kick was easily gathered by Sam Riches in the Barton goal.
Both sides had chances within minutes of each other when firstly Will Waudby’s fierce shot was saved by Andy Francis, whilst at the other end Ross Goodwin’s cross was just too high for Charlie Dawes and his effort lacked power.
Josh Tennant must have wondered just what he had to do to score, when his effort once again struck the crossbar and rebounded to safety.
Rainworth threatened in the final minute of the half but Danny Booth’s cross was deflected for a corner.
The first chance in the second-half fell to Rainworth when Charlie Dawse’s goal-bound shot was deflected for a corner.
Whilst both sides continued to crate the odd opening, neither defence was in a generous mood and it was fast becoming a game were one goal could decide the outcome.
Rainworth almost created that chance in the 62nd minute, the ball ping-ponged around the area but no Rainworth player was able to add the final-touch and eventually it was cleared.
Eddie Rogerson had a half-chance for Barton, but his effort was always rising, and it went over without troubling Francis.
Rainworth made a couple of substitutions bringing on Luke Walker for Nathan Modest and Gareth Curtis for Dawes.
Barton had a couple of chances to snatch all three points in the final couple of minutes, but Rob Ludlam deflected Will Waudby’s effort over.
From the corner Francis saved brilliantly at the feet of Billy Law.
Rainworth made their final substitution bringing on Jack Bennett for Jordan and shortly afterwards the referee blew for full-time.
