On a glorious September Sunday, Slough Ramagarhia held their second development hockey tournament

On a glorious September Sunday, Slough Ramagarhia held their second development hockey tournament. With 4 teams (Harrow, Staines, Slough Ramagarhia 1 & 2) playing a round robin format, it was likely to be a hotly contested affair. With both Harrow and Staines sides being depleted by clash with county commitments, the friendly atmosphere of the event meant that Slough were able to loan players to both sides and ensure that that the matches were fair and balanced.

The tournament was opened with the two slough teams playing each other. Slough 2 started the game without a keeper and quickly went 2 goal down. However once they had their keeper (Courtesy of Harrow) it became a more balance match ending up with a 3 - 1 victory to Slough 1's.

The second match saw a hotly contested game between Slough 1 and Staines. Both teams played an open flowing game that was evenly contested. With Slough 1 legs tiring, Staines eventually came away as deserved winners with a 3 - 2 victory.

The third game between Slough 2 and Harrow was a more one way affair with Harrow attacking the tiring Slough " team and some resolute defending by Slough 2. But the pressure paid off for Harrow as they came away as 2 - 0 winners.

The fourth game between a refreshed Slough 1 and tiring Harrow was hotly contested. Despite both sides having clear cut chances, the game ended with honours shared in a goalless draw.

The fifth game between Slough 2 and Staines saw two sides who were very tired and left open spaces for both teams to exploit. The game saw a 6 thriller, but with a deserved draw for both teams.

The final Game saw the two guest teams battle out a thrilling finale. Despite chances at both ends neither teams were able to deal the knockout blow as they fought a goalless draw.

Harrow came away as Tournament Champions with a better goal difference over Staines, but the real winner was Hockey as all agreed that the tournament was set at just the right standard and format for everyone to enjoy.

Special thanks go to Exotic Karahi Restaurant on Farnham Rd who sponsored the new kit for the new season and to Leela Rose Kaur Ghedia (Grand-daughter of Kuljit/Pritpal Bhachu) donated the trophies and medals for the tournament.
