Arctic conditions fail to dampen enthusiasm from Junior members!

The U9’s had a very successful tour to Kirkby Lonsdale in Cumbria last weekend to play in a festival. Travelling over on Saturday morning, the boys (and accompanying parents) had an entertaining day on Saturday including an evening of ten pin bowling with the hosts. All were a touch surprised to wake up to a snow covered landscape on Sunday morning! Arriving at the club the ground was a touch snowy and watery, and definitely colder than the Mooragh….. The boys played 4 games during the day, first being against Sandbach, which was a spirited draw, followed by a game against the hosts Kirby Lonsdale, which was won well. The third game was against an extremely large team from Harrogate, the first half we have extinguished from our memory, but the second half the boys showed real spirit and came out scoring more tries than their much larger opponents! After lunch (which enabled a slight thawing out for the boys) a further game against another side from Sandbach, which resulted in a very hard fought and physical game which again the boys won well.

The conditions were difficult and cold for the boys but they acquitted themselves extremely well, and were a credit to themselves and the Club. A very successful and enjoyable trip was had by all, if not a little cold and challenging for the U9s. Well done all. A note of thanks to all the folk who assisted in fund raising to support the boys in getting across, and to all the parents who supported the boys in their first venture across, which gave them an excellent all round rugby experience!
