Ramsey remain rooted to the foot of Lancs/Cheshire 1 with just one draw from eight outings to show for their efforts. Lancashire outfit Birchfield however are the visitors to the Mooragh Park this Saturday and they sit just two points above Ramsey in the standings and have one win from seven starts. With Ramsey’s results and performances steadily improving, this could be the weekend when they grab their first win.
Being at home means that Dan Bonwick, Ben Harding and Matty Meechan are all included, however that news is tempered by the fact that stand off Scott Kneale aggravated a knee injury last week at Congleton and he sits out this weekend. Dan Richmond returns at scrum half which means the versatile Bonwick fills in at ten. Jamie Arneil is also back at eight but missing this week are Dave and Nathan Hinks, so there's a switchround up front with Jarred Callister and birthday boy "Our" Rory Nicholson moving to the coalface. Chris Hardisty's excellent work against Hoylake two weeks ago is rewarded with a start on the wing.
Birchfield’s last visit to the Mooragh was just over two years ago and saw them come away with maximum points in a 34-17 win. Since then however there’s been some player movement for Birchfield and while they did defeat Hoylake earlier this season the remainder of their games have been losses of a similar magnitude to Ramsey and their attack is the bluntest in the table, averaging just five points per game. This should be a close match but Ramsey may well just edge it.
