Joe Smith gives us a brief description of Tuesday night's game

This week the indoor team came up against Cookridge CC. Winning the toss on what looked a remarkably similar pitch to last week, Hodges elected to bat first.

Duckworth and Smith, with his new grip, struggled for an over. Both eventually retiring (no criticism for the first team captain). They were followed by the dynamic duo Scanlan and Dyer (appropriate name). Because he had actually hit the ball hard, Dyer decided to run and ran himself out. Scanlan retired, leaving Reed and Hodges to see out the innings. As if it was his last pint, Reed finished it delicately and for the first time ever Hodges managed a not out. We finished on 113, perhaps no better than par.

Bowlers bowled steadily without really troubling the batsmen. However there wasn’t much support in the field with the normally reliable Smith dropping one he would normally swallow, and Dyer being his usual self behind the stumps. Despite not losing a wicket and a few overthrows they finished well short.
