Please read the following report of the Club Dinner 2016 held at Peasehill House Hotel on 28th October

On Friday 28th October the Cricket Club Dinner took place at Peasehill House Hotel. Another great evening was enjoyed by all present, and it was great to see a table full of junior members. Thanks for your support.
Please see below highlights from John Statham's excellent address, and a list of prizes presented. There are some photo's within the Albums section of the site, including Lawrence Walker receiving his mark of recognition.

PRESIDENT'S ADDRESS

Overall the club is in good health, we will post a financial surplus for the third consecutive year, membership is strong, members are getting involved in club activities, senior cricket continues to progress and the junior section remains successful. We are also lucky to have fabulous sponsors whose support makes a huge difference.

We ran some great events in the year. Highlights for me were the beer and music festival with over 80 members supporting Rick Barker and the organising committee, the Xmas draw, the annual sports quiz, blue tee shirt night. Many thanks to Dave Thompson for coordinating all our social events.

On the cricket front we opened our refurbished changing rooms and scorebox and thanks to Stuart Andrew MP for conducting the opening and to John Hughes and Andrew Doidge for making it happen. We now have a fantastic range of facilities and a great playing surface looked after by Jonny Ross. We are also really grateful to all those who gave up their time to provide cricket teas during the season.

3rd X1 took pride of place winning both the Conference East and the Chappell Cup which saw our younger players come to the fore. Congratulations to Ian Vinall.

The 1st X1 finished one place higher in the league and played some excellent cricket and but for a nightmare run around halfway may well have finished higher.

The 2nd X1 finished in the top four and for a while challenged for the title. The mix of the team is god with many of our talented younger players featuring regularly and starting to contribute week in week out. Jake Hodges won the league U21 award.

The junior section is one of the club's great successes of recent years. Some 80 plus youngsters are in the section including a girls group for the first time. Success came through the U9s winning the league and the Peter Rowney trophy, the U11s wing the league and the U17s winning the Denison Cup, again! Many thanks to Steve Powell and all the junior coaches.

Finally on cricket young Elliot Bunn won the young scorer of the year.

2017 will be a challenging year for us as we manage a number of changes. Andrew Duckworth will take over the first team captaincy and we wish him well. 2017 will see the retirement of Joyce who has done such a wonderful job for us over many years. She will take some replacing and we may well have to change the way we run the bar. Finally the biggest change will be to Cricket Chairman as Lawrence Walker retires from the position after decades of service to cricket at Rawdon. Loll has been a magnificent servant to cricket at Rawdon and has overseen everything that has been good at the club. He is also respected across the league and has served on the league management committee. He will be a hard act to follow and like with Joyce we may have manage cricket matters differently.

Despite all these challenges I believe the club is in good health and well placed to handle the challenges of 2017.
