First half
We dominated the first 35 minutes. Had 2 free kicks around the D, that Taryn Smith on 9 minutes and then Seanan on 32 minutes both just put over the bar. We were moving the ball around and across the pitch really nicely. It was good football. Seanon McKillop hit the foot of the right post with a scissor kick from 14 yards on 25 minutes but then...

..well against the run of play on 35 minutes came Cobham's first goal. A good goal too from free play. Toby Mbu picked up the ball in a forward midfield position, took it around a couple of Vale players and finished powerfully. Cobhams quick and tall 11, Mbu eventually got both their goals and their one booking.

Shane McEntaggart injured
Shane suffered a nasty stud gash in his leg on 35 minutes. He had to be stretchered off and was replaced by substitute Marcus Dowdeswell. The Game was delayed for 5 minutes. Most inconsiderate of our Oz CB. Ocker was driven away from the ground at half time to get some medical attention. He managed to give me a thumbs up from the car so at least he was well in spirit if not in leg. Get well soon Shane.

Jack 1-1
Our well deserved equaliser was scored by in form Jack Williamson on 43 minutes. A good bit of play on the left was chipped into the penalty area, Nathan Lewis helped the ball on with a shot on the turn into the 6 yard box where sniffer Jack slid in to slide the ball into the back of the net past the disparaging Cobham keeper. Jacks 4th goal in 4 games.

The second half
Not our best 2nd half ever it has to be said. Quite a few stray and short passes. Most unlike us. Didn't really come close to scoring in the 2nd half despite plenty of free kicks, corners and possession. Passing let us down. A shame as we looked the better side in the first half. Cobham were not dominant in the second half by any means. They just did enough to hold onto their lead after Toby number 11 scored his second goal in the 59th minute after he latched onto a poor backpass and rounded keeper Tony.

Tony comes up
In the dying minutes of the second-half Vale keeper Tony Davies came up into the opposition box for a free kick. Unfortunately our attack was cleared but Tony did manage to get back in goal in time to thwart a Cobham attack. Besides, the free kick taker Seanan Mckillop did a fine job as sweeper to clear up at the back.

Really great to witness female referee Rachel Marlow in charge of a game. Reffed very well, gave 3 bookings and didn't take any nonsense from the players. I think the players are generally less verbal to female referees.

Nice club Cobham, friendly Chairman, great pitch too. Thank you for hosting.

They have worked hard to find a lot of sponsors in their affluent locale.
Over the summer they have invested in the ground with a new path around the pitch, a new water tank and a new Tannoy PA system that they needed for when Walton casuals ground shared with them for a few games at the start of this season.
A very good ground for this step 10 level. Kind of a different level from most clubs in our division to be honest. A Ground that can easily host Ryman South level step 8 games

5 sports clubs amongst winners in the Jewson Building Better Communities competition.
