Wow! Can we play on 3G every week? The boys took to it like a duck to water. What a team performance. Everone stepped up. Everyone had a stormer and looked totally up for the game. Body language was great from the off.
To be honest, today we played so well we made a good Deportivo side look a bit average. We had what looked like 2 good goals disallowed in the 2nd half as well. One was a great bit of play by Seanan Mckillop as he started and finished his own move on 60 minutes, disallowed for a moving ball free kick I think. The other was a James Curran header netted from a corner on 70 minutes disallowed for I don't know what.
If anything we played better in the 2nd half than the first. Not sure FCDG were at their best as they looked a bit flakey at the back for the 2nd and 3rd goals but I know they had a full side out today. Before this game we were looking at this match as a bit of a test as we know Deportivo have had some very good results against the top teams. Well if this was a test we passed with flying colours.
Conor Turner returned from injury and had a great game. 2 goals, an assist and didn't stop running all day. A fantastic return to the side. Goals from open play on 36 and 39 minutes. Max Agostini started at left wing back and looked totally assured on the 3G for the whole 90 minutes.
Got to say Gavin Bolger did a great job today. We only had 12 players out today and with 2 or 3 players returning to the side. Gavin was on the bench, ready to play if he had to. Danny Alderton was really still nursing an injury so came on for 10 or 15 minutes. Out of that, we managed to put in probably the 2nd or 3rd best performance of the season.
Marcus Dowdeswell and James Curran were rocks at the back. Both organising and motivating. Marcus made some great tackles and blocks. Skipper Jerome Smart was everywhere, totally bossed the midfield, defended deep when Deportivo came at us and linked up forward play excellently.
Johann Kirsten had a great game at right back/wing back following up a solid game last week v Fleet Spurs. Man of the Match but that accolade could have also gone to Conor, James, Jerome, Marcus or Nathan Lewis such was the nature of the team performance.
Jack Williamson scored again. 15 in 16 now. Machine! Scored in open play on 14 minutes from a Conor Turner pass. Seanon McKillop scored again making it look easy with a cool finish after another assist from Eoin Fraser on 78 minutes.
Reece Turner was assured in goal. Didn't have too much to do today as the defence around him were keeping out most of the Galicia attacks but made a couple of good saves and his handling of high balls is solid. Communicates with the back 3 very well, shouting out instructions. Considering some of the injuries Reece has had to come through, he seems to have no problem getting down low to make saves in and around the six yard area.
Vale win away. An awesome team performance. Up to 5th in the League. Getting exciting.

Constant background bass drone noise of jet aircraft engines taxiing and taking off on the very nearby runways at Heathrow.
When you hear and feel how powerful these engines are it helps you understand how these planes lift off and stay in the sky.
It is basically pure power mixed with a bit of aerodynamics. The ground beneath your feet actually shakes. You dont hear the engines like that when sitting in the plane, even on takeoff.
The sound did not seem off putting or annoying whilst watching the game. More impressive than anything.
Tea hut at Bedfont Sports, very good if a little slow. Bacon Roll was tops.
