Green outgun Vale 2-4
Josh Tully scores and assists on debut but depleted Vale
Raynes Park Vale 2 - Frimley Green 4
CCL Division 1. Saturday 2nd December 2017 3pm kick off.
A bad day at the office.
Vale lose at home in the league for the first time
in 2017/18 to a verbal Frimley Green side who were ninth
at the start of the day. We were 5th, now 6th. Our first league defeat since Cobham
away 2-1 on September 16th and ending our run of 8 league wins in a row.
Vale had 5 team changes from the previous
two or three games.
Left wing backNathan Lewis was suspended. Seanan Mckillop was injured & hobling,
James Curran, Conor Turner and Marcus Dowdeswell were away.
Charlie Marus suffered a groin injury in the 1st half.
All of this should not take away from
Frimley Green who on the day were the better team.
They were combative, mouthy, lively. Seemed like they wanted it a bit more
and were quite ruthless when attacking. Their defense would always boot clearances over houses
and deep into the park. Quite annoying but effective.
They defended well and didn't really give us much at all in the 2nd half.
They scored 1st on 14 minutes from free play in our box,
then we had our best spell of the game from 15 to 30 minutes
when we scored twice. The first a nice swivel in the box from debutant, young Josh
Tully playing up front at no.10. 19 minutes. FG couldn't clear and Josh turned and pounced.
Two minutes later there was a mix up in the FG defence, Josh Tully passed the ball to Jack Williamson
who was onside to slot his 17th goal of the season from the edge of the box.
2-1. We were winning the game! For a bit, for 18 minutes we were actually ahead in this game.
FG then went into attack overdrive, carved us open at the back, hit the post
with a header on 35 mins then scored with a fast low ball across the box from
their left for a far post tap in. They scored again on 41 minutes with a cross from their left
for an 8 yard well placed header.
We trudged in at Half time 2-3 down and a bit shell shocked.
Danny Alderton came on for the start of the 2nd period as Charlie Marus
suffered a groin injury. Danny played on the left side of the back 3.
In the 2nd half we played with a better spirit and tried hard to
get back into the game but FG had attacks as well and we cleared
off our own line twice. Again the FG defence never gave us too much, a few free
kicks, a couple of corners, Jack Williamson had a lovely sharp finish dissallowed
Eoin Fraser had a nasty cut near his eye that later required A&E treatment and had to come off.
Thomas Bentley on at right back as we went to 4-4-2. A not fully fit Seanan Mckillop came on in the 77th minute for debutant striker Josh Tully.
Shane McEntaggart was sent to play up front from Centre Back as we threw the kitchen sink
at getting the equaliser.
Frimley Green attacked well when they needed to and defended well
to hold on to their 3-2 lead and scored late on and on the break in the
94th minute as we pushing up for an equaliser.
So 2-4 it ended and all a bit gutted but we regroup for the next game away to Farleigh Rovers
Saturday 9th december 2pm kick off. Rovers had a great result when they took
a rare point off Cobham, at Cobham, 1-1 away today.
