Badshot Lea 2 RPV 2
1st Draw of the Season
Badshot Lea 2 - 2 Raynes Park Vale (0-0 HT)
Sat 24th Feb 2018, 3pm kick off
Combined Counties League Division 1
Weather: Sunny, but absolutely freezing. Early beast from the East arctic chill.
Broken Ice puddles in the Badshot Lea (Camberley Town FC) car park. Proper cold.
Our 1st Draw of the season!
Great to see the boys play again. This was our first game since 6th Feb, an 18 day gap due to two home postponed
games. Team played well. Should've won. Sloppy and disputed late equaliser conceded.
1st half: We hit a post (or bar) and Badshot Lea had chances too. According to some, BL shaded the 1st half.
2nd half: Vale were bossing the 2nd half but went one down on 58 minutes through a soft goal by Brad Smith the BL number 11.
We gave away the ball in midfield, BL passed down the hill, right side, BL11 managed to run on to the through ball that was gathering pace down the hill, go around keeper Reece to hook in a tight shot from near the right touchline, just evading our attempt to clear off the line. Technically it was probably an OG but Smith of BL claimed it.
James Curran and Danny Alderton both had good games at centre back and coped well with the aerial crosses in.
72 minutes. We equalise 1-1. Jack Williamson back on the score sheet. Shot from 10 yards. Conor Turner assist.
78 minutes. We go ahead 2-1. Jordan Holmes with his first goal for the Club. Shot from 11 yards (I think)
after a period of Vale prolonged possesion and pressure.
90+1 minutes. Brad Smith equalises for 2-2. Last minute corner gets booted high into the air in the box,
ball comes down with snow on it but is headed clear, there was a bit of shoving of backs that the ref didn't see, ball broke out of box
to be played quickly back in again and it fell to Brad Smith again , BL11, who turned and swivelled. Made enough
of a connection for it to evade Reece. Bit of a slow motion, soft goal gutter.
Man of the Match: Chosen by manager Gavin Bolger was Josh Dan Ano. Well played JD.
We were so close to a great away win to a team 3rd in the table.
The win would've made my weekend but still very encouraging signs
that we should be higher up the table than 8th.
But as they say in football, the League table doesn't lie.
Still plenty of games to go. Lets get as high as we can and go into next season
on the up and with a firm eye on promotion.
Starting XI (with shirt numbers)
1 Reece Turner GK
4 James Curran CB , 5 Danny Alderton CB, 3 Nathan Lewis LWB
2 Jordan Holmes RWB , 10 Seanan Mckillop CM, 6 Calum Forbes CM, 8 Eoin Fraser CM, 7 Josh Dan Ano LM

12 Max Agostini (came on 60 minutes for EF8, injured toe)
14 Johann Kirsten
15 Marcus Dowdeswell
16 Sam Jordan (came on 78 minutes for JH2)
Great to see Johan Kirsten back from his eye injury.
Calum Forbes was skipper as JS was away.
We played in Yellow away shirt with home blue shorts and socks.
Looked good. Very Sweden. A nice combo.
Cracking Bacon Sarnie at Bashot / Camberley. Nice Bovril too,
saw off the chill. Boardroom served us a nice cuppa and someone's
leftover birthday coffee cake. Yum #lovetheCCL
This was a bad week for last minute equalisers at Raynes Park Vale for on
Thursday 22nd Feb, our under 18's were 30 seconds away from the Surrey Cup Final
when a looping Met. Police header went in on the 97th minute for 1-1. Game finshed 2-2
after extra time but we lost the pen shootout 3-0. A real kick to the nads that result as
was this 91st minute equaliser from Badshot Lea.
Thanks to Badshot Lea for hosting and good luck with your new home ground
for next season.
