RPV 7 Bagshot 1
A tale of two hat-tricks.
Raynes Park Vale 7 - Bagshot 1 (3-0 HT)
Sat 24th March 2018, 3pm kick off
Combined Counties League Division 1
League position: 9th v 18th. 9th & 19th after result.
Weather: Overcast, mild, dry.
Vale played in Home Blue & Yellow. Bagshot in Red with White
Vale clock up their biggest win of the season and continue to make steady progress.
Two Raynes Park hat-tricks mark out this game. Seanan Mckillop created his own triple within 20 minutes with the 2nd, 3rd and 4th goals on 30,45 & 50 minutes. 1) A mazy run 2) A clever direct free-kick 3) Well placed right footer from 15 yards. Quality. 14 goals so far this season.
Jack Williamson opened the scoring with a neat little near post flick on 14', he scored next on 80' with a well executed lob over the Bagshot 'keeper and smashed his hat-trick goal into the roof of the onion bag for our 7th. Net buster.
Jack's 24th, 25th & 26th goals of the season. Well deserved and didn't stop running all day.
Two full debuts. To Patrick Armour in goal and a scoring debut from Byron Douglas-Letts, formerly of Redhill.
Byron looked very useful upfront and got Vale's 5th on 74 minutes. A strong foil and a great start.
Also impressive 2017/18 home debuts for Tom Harland-Goddard and Louie Stanton-Cockle.
Pitch was still muddy after the recent bad weather so both teams struggled to play zippy passes in the heavy going
but a fair result as Vale had the vast majority of possesion and chances.
Our back 5 looking good. Wing backs Jordan and Louie getting involved & getting forward.
Centre back two/three such a solid base. James, Danny sitting, Nathan getting forward, crossing, assisting.
Man of the Match* goes to Seanan Mckillop for his midfield leadership and great hat-trick.
Honourary mention to Jack Williamson for his superb hat-trick. Well done guys, it was great to witness your hat-tricks.
*chosen by manager Gavin Bolger & chairman Paul Bentley.
2018 getting better. Not bad. Looking fairly interesting. Tougher tests to come, upon us and soon.
Starting with Badshot Lea on Saturday 31st March & Sheerwater on Tuesday 3rd April.
Both proud members of the CCL & both run by fine, dedicated football men,
Mark Broad at Badshot Lea and the legendary Trevor Wendon at Sheerwater.
2nd and 3rd in the league respectively. If you get to know non-league, if you care, ties like these can be epic.
God knows what it must be like to actually play in them. Gladitorial I imagine.
1-0 14' Jack Williamson. Near post outside of the foot flick volley. Assist; great cross fron Nathan Lewis.
2-0 30' Seanan Mckillop. Solo run through box and cool finish.
3-0 45' Seanan Mckillop, direct free kick from 19 yards, low to the right hand side. Brace. On 45+2'
4-0 50' Seanan Mckillop, shot from 15 yards, bottom right corner. Hat-trick.
5-0 74' Byron Douglas-Letts. Debut goal, nice finish from 9 yards, left side, in free play.
6-0 80' Jack Williamson. Sweet half volley lob of the keeper from 18 yards. Brace
7-0 83' Jack Williamson. A hammered blast into the roof of the net from 11 yards, mid left of box. Net buster & Jack's hat-trick.
7-1 90' Bagshot score a very good consolation. Great volley over 'keeper from 17 yards.
