Raynes Park Vale 0 - Sheerwater FC 0
Sat 21st April 2018. 3pm kick off.
Combined Counties League Division 1
Sheers played in Red away kit, Vale in home blue with yellow trim.
Weather: Very warm, Sunny, then overcast with short showers in 2nd half
League position before game 7th, Sheers 4th. Same after game.

Not too much to report here. A rare nil nil draw. This was our 4th game in 8 days. Either we lacked a bit of pace
in midfield and upfront or Sheerwater didn't let us play. It wasn't the classic goal fest I'd been expecting, a dearth of chances for either side but I suppose
you can't really grumble about a point against a good Sheers side. The general feeling after the
game was dissapointment at not winning but still, not a loss and we kept a clean sheet against a
the prolific Sheers strike duo of Shane Rideout and ex Vale player Chris Mulchay.

Sheers number 10 Mulchay hit the bar with a downward header after bouncing off the baking clay pitch on 30 minutes. That was the closest that anyone came to scoring. We had a good shout for a pen in the 2nd half when Louie Stanton-Cockle was brought down but the ref waved play on. Louie put in a huge effort down the left to break down the Sheers throughout the game, often beating a defender only to be backed up by another defender to close down or concede a throw.

Eoin Fraser had a very good game deputising at right back as did all of our defence who played well
and must take some satisfaction from a good clean sheet. Reece Turner in goal was confident in his handling and takes from corners & crosses.

Vale Man of the match award goes to Danny Alderton for his confident and commanding performance at central centre back.
