Raynes Park 3 Hanworth Villa 2
Vale back from the brink to win Cup tie in extra time.
Competition : Cherry Red Records Premier Challenge Cup – 1st Round
Referee : Karl Parker Assistant Referees : Rodney Van Niekerk and Paul Maskell
Vale 3 Hanworth Villa 2 (HT 0-1)
A great moral boosting win for the boys against a team in the CCL Prem, one step above us.
120 minutes, 5 goals, a penalty save, 2 sending offs plus another 8 bookings!
Er, the bad bits. A defensive error allowed Cyril Ocansey, the Hanworth number 11 to waltz in and easily finish
on 21 minutes. Ocansey also scored after another error on 46 minutes. Straight after the kick off!
We were so close to being dead and buried in this game but our luck, and play, was about to change.
Well they say you make your own luck.
Back from the dead
Vale were 2 nil down and faced almost certainly going out of the competition and 3 down on the 59th minute
when Hanworth were awarded a penalty. But Tony saved the pen low and to his right. Then we
we bombarded Villa after that for a fantastic 3-2 win. Brilliant effort as usual by the boys and good use
of the bench by manager Gavin Bolger. Villa were down to 10 men on 77 minutes and 9 men on 109 minutes.
Man of the Match was Tony Davis for his penalty save and two other brilliant saves.
One, a great tip over the bar from a very good lob attempt on 15 minutes and the other was from
a direct free kick from 25 yards out on 40 minutes. Kick was flying right into the top left corner but Tony
took off high to his right to palm it away for a corner.
Honourable mention must go to Danny Alderton in his comeback * game for
his brave, close range match winning, far post headed goal in extra time on 105 minutes
and for his commanding and rock steady performance at centre back.
Very close to getting man of the match. Goal assist was a high ball hooked
back into the danger zone by subbed on Nathan Lewis.
Nathan has been so consistent for us at left back recently and his passing,
tackling and link up play has been excellent, as it was again tonight.
In form striker Taryn Smith scored again on 83 minutes for our opener with an assist from Jerome Smart.
Taryn also hit the bar with a rasping shot from 20 yards in the 1st half.
Max Agostini scored with a well sloted goal with his left for our equaliser on 85 minutes
and a fine performance at left back then left midfield on his full starting XI debut for the super Vale.
Fantastic win boys.

So good to see four of our Under 18s at the game tonight cheering on the lads. Top boys.
Good luck on Thursday evening when they play a CCL U18 North league game at Grand Drive.
Don't think Hanworth were too pleased with the ref.
* Danny Alderton Comeback game. Back on August 5th Danny was sent off
in an FA Cup qualifying match vs Horley Town. The Surrey FA recinded the Red
card in a meeting on the 15th Sept but in that time he missed 9 games whilst
waiting for the hearing. Danny coming back is a great boost to the RPV squad.
