Abbey Shield
Runner's up! Could easily have been a win!
Thanks for all the help at the tournament yesterday and the wonderful support of the teams. I will not try name individuals, but think as an age group we had terrific volunteers and really did our part. The kids really appreciate having you there to cheer them on….hopefully cheering most of the time and not beating with a stick!
For the Greens, a big thank you to Joe for hitting the ground running and organising the team. Was a great start to win the first game, but had a couple of losses after that, but had a good day overall to finish mid table. Reading indicated they needed players to make up their team, so I thought it better to ensure the kids got a lot of game time. Hope the parents didn’t mind too much and a special thanks to James Ball who seemed to bounce between the Reading & Abbey team, but hopefully that meant he got a lot of game time.
For the Blues it was sooooo close. Finished 2nd, only 1 point behind Bracknell (who we drew with in our match). Bracknell only won their last game 4-3….a draw would have given us overall win! Unfortunately we had only one game, where we were not switched on and Ensians beat us 6-8. So showed as usual we could score tries but sat back in defence. Probably a good learning experience for the kids that need to play hard in every game.
Anyway, a great day by all…..I certainly slept well last night, so sure all the kids did too!
