Abbey at High Wycombe match preview

Abbey travel to High Wycombe looking to build on their morale boosting win over league title contenders Cheltenham, last week.

Coach Machin stresses the importance of maintaining the improvement. ‘We’ve taken great strides in a short time, and we must not let our new standards slip.’ Talisman Steve Willis will be missing from the back row and John Holden is forced to drop out as hooker.
To cover the slots Skipper Keith Wilkinson goes no. 8, making room for Danny Pawlett in the second row and Ollie Charlton comes off the bench into the front row. Winger Gavin Dampies is due to make his 60th league game and qualifies for an Honours tie.
High Wycombe had a good win at Coney Hill last time out, but they are one of many clubs looking to keep clear of the wrong end of the league. A win for Abbey will haul them to share a league position with the Bucks men. First time round last September Wycombe eased to the win through forward dominance, and area Abbey have been working on.
The league is tight at the bottom end, and the sides that steer clear will be those who can establish winning momentum.
