Reading Festival A & B winners
Another successful Festival
Following on from a successful campaign at Henley, two weeks earlier, Reading Abbey U11's won the A & B pools at Reading Festival.
The B team won 2 and drew 1 match in their pool and progressed to the final where they met a strong Beaconsfield team. The score was nil nil at the end of the match, thanks to a last second touchline defending tackle by Ollie P in his first ever tournament. Coaches from both teams agreed to share the trophy.
Well done to all the B team players.
In the A group the U11's won all 4 first round matches and played a semi-final against 4th placed Wallingford. Wallingford played much better than their placing suggested but we came out on top to meet local rivals Redingensians in the Final.
Everything came together in the Final and I don't remember 'Gensians threatening our touchline. Final score 4 tries to nil.
Another great performance by the A team players.
The trophy presentation was a bit rushed as we had to rush off to the Madjeski Stadium to watch the London Irish vs Leicester Tigers match, meet players & be guard of honour - our prize for winning at Henley.
Overall the performance by both squads of players was a pleasure to watch. We rucked and tackled hard and looked to pass and create space with each opportunity.
