Welcome to Reading Rugby Club Mini Section
Ever wondered what it is like to play Tag Rugby?
Do you currently play at school and would like to find a club to join and be part of a team?
Do you play for a club but are not playing enough competitive games?
We are an all inclusive and exciting Mini Rugby community, sponsored by The Oracle.
We cater for boys and girls aged between 5 and 12 learning and competing in mini rugby. From the start, at U6 (Year 1), where the children learn their skills engaged through a series of structured games; promoting confidence, determination and self belief while developing agility, coordination and team work. Progressing, to competitive tag rugby at U7, contact at U9 and finishing the Mini’s (at Under 12) fully prepared for their transition into the full 15 a-side format of the game at U13.
We extend a warm welcome to all players, both boys and girls of all abilities, from keen novices to potential internationals. We recognise that children develop at very different speeds and as such we structure all age groups to ensure our players are engaged in ability appropriate training formats and fixtures, in recognition of this development journey.
Training is at the club’s Holme Park ground in Sonning every Sunday of the season from 10am. The U6’s finish at 11am, and all other age groups finish at 12.00noon.
We take the welfare and safety of our players very seriously; ensuring that all on-field helpers are CRB checked and suitably qualified medical assistance is on duty each week. We are the only club in Reading with the RFUs “Whole Club Seal of Approval”, which provides a quality benchmark for the standard of coaching, medical cover and insurance for all our players
We encourage all players to play the game in the right spirit, perform at the best of their abilities, to be gracious in victory, magnanimous in defeat and respectful to the officials, the opposition and their team mates. The development of such values, we believe, will be of benefit to our youngsters well beyond the sports field.
We look forward to welcoming you to the 2010-2011 Reading mini’s season either as a family returning or a new member embarking on his or her first rugby experience.
